Be smart and gamble responsibly, but if you’re going to play, go with the best chances of winning. If you want a shot at $1,000, try playing Blackjack. Here’s why. If you play the lottery, your odds of winning a thousand dollars are terrible. You’ll probably have a 1 in 10,000 shot or maybe 1 in 100,000 shot to win the money, depending on which state you’re in and how they calculate the odds. Even if you buy twenty tickets your odds are still miserable.
If four people are at a poker table, however, there is close to a 100% chance that someone will win the hand (the pot could split, but even then you can break even). So if you’re good at reading people, maybe poker is your game.
In my mind, these are the two best bets you can make, if you know what you’re doing. If you play almost any other casino card or table game, there is no guarantee that anyone will necessarily win. For instance, if you have four people at a blackjack table, all four people could lose if the dealer has a better hand.
If you play blackjack, however, your odds of winning each hand are closer to fifty percent, especially if you play basic strategy. If you bet $1 on a blackjack hand and win, you get $2. If you keep doubling up, it would take you 10 consecutive hands to make $1,024, and your chances of doing that are roughly 1 in 1,024. Still not great, but a lot better than the lottery.
If you up your first blackjack bet to $20, it will only take you six hands to get to $1,024. You have a 1 in 64 chance to do this. Again of course this is still not easy, and please don’t go losing all your money trying, but if you’re going to make a bet, why not try blackjack. If you lose twenty dollars, you lose twenty dollars. But if you win a few hands, you can actually walk away with some money. If you don’t know how to play blackjack, you can play red/black on the roulette wheel with similar odds.
Even if you win three hands in a row doubling up, you would have $140 in profit, and you have a 1 in 8 chance of doing that. I don’t know about you, but I’ve barely won any money on lottery tickets, but I’ve won a few times with blackjack. At least there is a decent chance!Share on:
