Well, there are some poker professionals who know how to invest their winnings from poker, and one of these players is Jay Heimowitz. Aside from the fact that he is a good investor, he is also a very well-known poker professional all over the world.
Born on December 26, 1937, Jay Heimowitz learned how to play poker when he was barely ten years old. In fact, he began playing such game with the use of baseball cards. He continued to play poker as he served the U.S. Army. His opponents were his fellow servicemen, and he was able to won almost US$10,000 from the time he first played against them until he left the service when he was twenty one years old.
Not a lot of poker professionals would think of doing what Jay Heimowitz did with such winnings. He decided to invest such winnings in a beer company which he eventually sold to Budweiser. He was then recognized as the youngest distributor of Budweiser in the United States at the age of twenty three years old.
Jay Heimowitz has been participating in World Series of Poker events since 1975, and since then, he has already won six World Series of Poker bracelets. The first World Series of Poker bracelet that this poker professional won was from a US$5,000 No Limit Hold'em event held in 1975. The cash prize he took home amounted to US$32,000.
In 1986, Jay Heimowitz earned his second World Series of Poker bracelet, which he won when he participated in a US$1,500 Limit Hold'em event that also earned him US$175,800. In 1991, this poker professional participated in the US$5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event, won US$126,000 and earned him his third World Series of Poker bracelet. After three years, this poker professional joined a US$1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em event successfully, taking home the amount of US$148,200 plus his fourth World Series of Poker bracelet. It was in 2000 when this poker professional earned his fifth World Series of Poker bracelet. The event he participated in was a US$5,000 Limit Hold'em game, in which the cash prize he received was US$284,000. In the following year, he joined the US$1,000 The Seniors' Championship event of the World Series of Poker. This was where he got his sixth World Series of Poker bracelet and the cash prize of US$115,430. Well, we would not be surprised if he is one of the most famous players of the World Series of Poker.
