Mega Millions has been making dreams come true for lucky players again and again. Here are a few of the people who all hit the jackpot.
On July 5th, 2013, Zelasko became a millionaire and didn’t even know it. He bought a quick-pick ticket and placed it in his wallet, where it stayed for over a month. Zelasko went on vacation, took a few golfing trips and continued his normal life with the winning ticket tucked away.
It was August 13th when Zelasko finally checked his numbers after hearing that a winning ticket was sold in his area. When claiming his $80 million jackpot prize, Zelasko said he plans to keep playing Mega Millions each week
Almost two month after the winning numbers were announced for the May 31, 2013 draw, Daryl and Judy Smith claimed their prize. The Smith’s ticket was the only jackpot win for that draw, however three other lucky players won $10,000 that same day.
A few days after the May 17, 2013 draw, Garofalo claimed his jackpot prize. He chose the cash payout option. After taxes were taken from the cash value, Garofalo went home with $73,279,052. Upon sharing the good news with his wife, Garofalo stated it was time for a day off from work.
Judy Junten was the sole winner of the February 5, 2013 Mega Millions draw. Juntunen first learned that she had won when her granddaughter called to tell her the winning ticket had been sold where Juntunen frequently shops. Junten chose the cash option and took home $9.8 million.
Mayancela won the Mega Millions jackpot for the draw on January 25, 2013. The $89 million annuity jackpot Mayancela won had a $65.7 million cash payout. He took the cash option and said that he had always promised his wife they would be millionaires one day.
Two other players of the January 25, 2013 draw won $250,000 each.
Years before his big win, Vonier bought a quick-pick ticket and decided to keep playing the random numbers it gave him over and over again. It paid off when Vonier became the sole winner of a $50 million jackpot. The construction worker said that he was going to pay off some bills and continue with life as usual despite taking home the over $38 million cash prize.
Cimino, a 67-year-old floral designer, said he never thought he would be able to afford retirement. That all changed when he won the November 7th, 2012 Mega Millions jackpot.
Cimino opted for the cash option and said he plans to use the money to help his family and friends.
At 22-years-old, Signh was working two jobs to get by. Shortly after the October 16, 2012 winning numbers were announced, Signh knew he had won and he claimed his prize the next day. Even though Signh took home a lump sum payment of about $23 million, he said he planned to continue working until his employers found replacements.Share on:
